Have you heard that Alyssa Stiles, BS, RDH, LMT, COM, CLC and Sarah Klein, RN, IBCLC have teamed up to offer services for infants with breastfeeding difficulties?!
Here’s what we have to offer:
Lactation Counseling
Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTs)-savvy lactation counselors/ lactation consultants can help parents troubleshoot feeding difficulties and identify possible issues with restrictive oral frenula in infants.
We can also attend appointments for a tongue and/or lip tie release to assist parents with breastfeeding on-site, immediately after the procedure.
Ideally we’d like to see the infant at least 2 week before a release procedure (if needed). Then, after the procedure, we will continue to be a part of the family’s support network.
TummyTime! Method
The TummyTime! Method is not simply laying your baby on his or her stomach. It is a systematic, evidenced-based, therapeutic program designed to support overall health, posture, movement, and connection. TummyTime! techniques can enhance infant feeding skills, and in our experience, may also help distract and calm infants after release procedures.
Infant Massage
This provides many benefits to both the child and parent/caregiver, including pain management and an opportunity to bond with the infant.
CranioSacral Therapy (CST)
CranioSacral Therapy involves light touch to reduce tension in the body, including the mouth, jaw, and neck, and is highly recommended before and after a frenectomy.
Baby-Friendly Pre- and Post-Frenectomy Exercises
We teach parents to use different techniques, including song, dance, and play, to prepare a baby for a tongue or lip tie release procedure. This optimizes range of motion and makes stretches and exercises associated with fun – not pain. That’s why it’s so important to see us before your baby’s frenectomy!
